Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag is at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment (not yet known). This action is in honor of Maryland Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller, who died today, Friday, January 15, 2021. Senate President Emeritus Miller represented Legislative District 27.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the United States Flag and Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment (not yet known). This action is in honor of Master Police Officer Christine Peters of the Greenbelt Police Department, who passed away today, January 14, 2021, from injuries sustained while on duty on January 2, 2021.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff
As a sign of respect for the service and sacrifice of United States Capitol Police Officers Brian D. Sicknick and Howard Liebengood, and all Capitol Police Officers and law enforcement, President Donald J. Trump ordered the United States Flag lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset, Wednesday, January 13, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff
Per Public Law 103-308 (passed by the 103rd United States Congress), the United States Flag is to be flown at half-staff on December 7th of every year in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Therefore, the United States Flag shall be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, Monday, December 7, 2020.
As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff
Per Public Law 107-51 (passed by the 107th United States Congress), the United States Flag is to be flown at half-staff each year in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This year, the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service will occur on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Therefore, the United States Flag shall be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, Sunday October 4, 2020.
As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag are at Full-Staff
The United States Flag and Maryland State Flag shall be raised to full staff at sunset, today, Tuesday, September 29, 2020, the day of interment for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Associate Justice Ginsburg passed away on September 18, 2020.

Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag is at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset, Saturday, September 26, 2020. This is the day of interment for former State Delegate Joseph V. Lutz, who passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020. Former State Delegate Lutz represented Legislative District 35A.
The United States Flag and Maryland State Flag will continue to be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of interment for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg. A separate notice that states when to raise both the United States and Maryland flags will be distributed at a later date.

This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the United States Flag lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day interment (not yet known). This action is in honor of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away today, September 18, 2020. Title 4 of the United States Code states that the United States Flag shall be flown at half-staff on the day of death until the day of interment for an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.
