Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag Is at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the Maryland State Flag lowered to half-staff at sunrise to sunset, Tuesday, June 22, 2021. This is the day of interment for former State Senator Barbara A. Hoffman, who passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag Is at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the Maryland State Flag lowered to half-staff at sunrise, Sunday, June 6, 2021 and returned to full-staff at sunset, Sunday, June 6, 2021 for Fire and Rescue Memorial Remembrance Day. This day honors all fire, rescue, and emergency medical services personnel from the State of Maryland who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Per federal law, the United States Flag is to be flown at half-staff from sunrise until NOON on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff. No flag may fly higher than the United States flag.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff
As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on May 26, 2021, in San Jose, California, President Joseph R. Biden ordered the United States Flag lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset, Sunday, May 30, 2021. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well. No flag may be higher than the United States flag.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Full-Staff
President Joseph R. Biden has amended the order to lower the flags to half-staff today, Saturday, May 15th. Flags should be flown at full-staff today, Saturday, May 15th.

Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day, however, today is also Armed Forces Day (the 3rd Saturday in May). Federal law states that the flag should be flown at half-staff for Peace Officers Memorial Day unless that day is also Armed Forces Day.

Because today is also Armed Forces Day, the flag should be flown at full-staff today.

President Joseph R. Biden ordered the United States Flag to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, on Saturday, May 15, 2021, in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff. No flag may fly higher than the United States flag.

The United States Flag and Maryland State Flag shall be raised to full staff at sunset on Monday, May 10, 2021, the day of interment for Corporal Keith Heacook of the Delmar Police Department, who died in the line of duty on April 28, 2021.

Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag Is at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the Maryland State Flag lowered to half-staff at sunrise, Friday, May 7, 2020 for Fallen Heroes Day. This day honors Fallen Heroes who have lost their lives in service to our State during the last year.

The United States Flag and Maryland State Flag continue to remain at half-staff for the passing of Corporal Keith Heacook of the Delmar Police Department until the day of his interment. A separate notice will be sent regarding the raising of the United States Flag and Maryland State Flag.
