Lowering and Raising of the United States Flag and Maryland State Flag
This is to advise you that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the United States Flag and Maryland State Flag flown at half-staff on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017, from sunrise to sunset. This is in memory U.S. Navy Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Timothy T. Eckels, Jr., of Manchester, Maryland, who died on August 21, 2017, while serving aboard the USS John McCain.
This action is taken under the Protocol for the United States and Maryland State Flag. Any questions on the above should be directed to the Office of the Secretary of State.

Flag Status Alert: United States Flag and Maryland Flag Are at Half-Staff
In honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service, President Donald J. Trump has ordered the United States Flag to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, Sunday, October 8, 2017. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well, no flag may be higher than the United States flag.

This is in memory of U.S. Navy Electronics Technician 2nd Class Kevin Sayer Bushell, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, who died on August 21 2017, while serving aboard the USS John McCain.

As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless act of violence perpetrated on October 1, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, President Donald J. Trump has ordered that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff effective IMMEDIATELY until sunset, Friday, October 6, 2017. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well, no flag may be higher than the United States flag.

President Donald J. Trump has ordered the United States Flag to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset, Monday, September 11, 2017 in honor of Patriot Day. This commemorates the individuals that lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001. As a matter of protocol, the Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff as well, no flag may be higher than the United States flag.

This is to advise you that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the United States Flag and Maryland State Flag flown at half-staff on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from sunrise to sunset.  This is in memory of U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant William J. Kundrat, of Frederick, Maryland, who died on July 10 2017, when a military aircraft crashed in Northern Mississippi.

This is in memory of Army Sergeant Eric M. Houck, of Edgewood, Maryland, who died on June 10, 2017 in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
